PROJECT OVERVIEW
360 GSS was appointed by Atkinson’s Developments to design, engineer, manufacture and install more than 27 metres of frameless glass balustrading for the new Clip ‘n Climb attraction at Eden Shopping Centre in High Wycombe.
Working as part of the wider construction programme, our team delivered a bespoke frameless glass balustrade system that provides clear visibility into the climbing arena while creating a robust safety barrier for visitors. CHALLENGE
Clip ‘n Climb is a family attraction designed around children’s climbing activities, making safety the highest priority throughout the project. The glass balustrade system needed to prevent falls while maintaining uninterrupted views into the attraction from the surrounding shopping centre. The installation also took place within one of the busiest areas of Eden Shopping Centre, positioned alongside Cineworld, Hollywood Bowl and the arcade. Careful planning and project management were essential to minimise disruption to neighbouring businesses while maintaining a safe working environment for contractors, shopping centre visitors and members of the public. In addition to the logistical challenges, the balustrade system had to integrate seamlessly with the contemporary design of the venue while complying with all relevant structural and safety requirements.
SOLUTION
360 GSS delivered a fully managed turnkey solution, taking responsibility for every stage of the project. Working closely with Atkinson’s Developments, our team produced the balustrade design, completed the required structural calculations, manufactured the bespoke system and carried out the installation during the construction phase of the new attraction. The finished installation features over 27 metres of frameless glass balustrading manufactured from clear toughened laminated safety glass with a stainless steel handrail. The minimalist design maximises visibility throughout the attraction, allowing parents and visitors to enjoy uninterrupted views of the climbing activities while maintaining the high levels of protection expected within a public leisure environment.
