CHALLENGE OVERVIEW:

A valued customer of Huws Gray faced significant hurdles within a home development project they had been contracted to complete, specifically concerning the structural roof steels. 

The contractor’s client had envisioned a wide roof span that required steel hip beams to support a high ceiling and large windows, creating a spacious and well-lit living area. However, the complexity of the structure, featuring crank ridges and exceptionally long hip beams with intricate cuts, joins, and angles, posed a significant challenge. 

This left the contractor in a difficult position after being let down by two previous steel fabricators, who found the project far too challenging to execute within the existing structure.

STRATEGIC APPROACH:

Recognising the unique needs and the intricate nature of the project, Huws Gray reached out to  360 GSS to help bring this project to life. The initial phase involved an in-depth consultation and site assessment by the 360 GSS team to understand the specific requirements and constraints of the existing house structure.

IMPLEMENTATION:

360 GSS’s approach was marked by meticulous planning and precision engineering. 

The project commenced with the installation of a steel ridge to integrate seamlessly into the existing structure of the house. This step was crucial for ensuring the stability and alignment of the subsequent installations. 

Following this, the main event involved the lifting of the main steels by a crane, a process that was strategically executed within a three-hour window. This not only demonstrated 360 GSS’s commitment to efficiency, but also minimised community disruption, adhering to our promise of considerate and effective project management.

RESULTS:

The installation of the steel framework by 360 GSS successfully addressed the initial challenges faced by the client, turning a complex structural design into a robust and aesthetically pleasing reality. The high ceilings and large windows supported by the precisely engineered steel hip beams transformed the living space, enhancing both its functionality and appeal.

The completion of this project within the constrained time frame and without compromising on safety or quality, underlined 360 GSS’s capability to handle complex and demanding construction tasks.
