NEW STAGE ROOM

ST GEORGE’S SCHOOL

Overview of the Project:

St. George's School in Windsor faced a challenge - their beloved stage room needed a modern transformation. They desired the ability to continue hosting plays and productions while incorporating advanced multimedia capabilities. Specifically, they wanted to use the proscenium arch as a projector screen.

Additionally, they sought a solution where the stage could transform into a vibrant sensory room when not in use, enhancing the learning experience for the children. The task was to create a seamless, adaptable space that balanced tradition with innovation.

Approach Taken:

St. George's School partnered with 360 GSS to tackle their multifaceted requirements. The initial step in this process was the development of a custom steel frame, serving as the foundation for these inventive architectural enhancements.

360 GSS faced a challenge at St George’s School due to missing architectural drawings that would determine if the structure could support large soundproof door panels.

To ensure stability, 360 GSS created a bespoke independent steel frame. The frame was designed, fabricated, and installed to support the folding door system and reinforce the existing structure.

Frameless Doors Installation: Our friends at Becker, designed and installed large frameless doors that seamlessly ran across a bespoke track. These doors, when closed, converted the proscenium arch into a high-quality projector screen, enabling the school to host multimedia-rich performances effortlessly.

Sensory Room Integration: When the stage is not in use for productions, it transforms into a vibrant sensory room, providing an engaging environment for the children. The stage, now a canvas of creativity, catered to diverse learning needs, making the room not just a performance space, but a hub of imagination and exploration.

Effortless Functionality: The installation was engineered for seamless functionality. The doors could be operated with minimal effort, ensuring that teachers and students could effortlessly switch between the stage and sensory configurations. User-friendly interfaces and automation simplified the process, making the room accessible to all.

Results:

The result was overwhelmingly positive, with students and teachers expressing praise for the room's adaptability and immersive features. This transformation significantly enhanced the educational experience, generating enthusiasm and engagement throughout the school.

Conclusion:

“The collaboration between St. George's School and 360 GSS exemplifies the successful integration of tradition and technology. By creatively modifying the architectural elements and implementing advanced multimedia solutions, the school now possesses a stage room that not only preserves the essence of live performances, but also embraces the future of interactive learning.

This project demonstrates how innovative design and thoughtful technology integration can transform educational spaces. St. George's School now boasts a stage room that is a testament to creativity, adaptability, and inclusivity. It stands as an inspiring model for schools seeking to blend tradition with modernity, creating environments where students can learn, explore, and thrive”.
